Conditions

Some of the common conditions you may experience that I can treat

Sciatica

Sciatica Treatment

Sciatica is the name given to any sort of pain that is caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve.

What is sciatica and why should you have it treated?

If you have a herniated disc and suffer from a pain, numbness or a tingling sensation that radiates from your lower back and travels down one of your legs to your foot and toes then it’s likely you are suffering from sciatica.

Symptoms of Sciatica:

The longest nerve in your body, the sciatic nerve runs from the back of your pelvis, through your buttocks, down both legs, ending at your feet.

Sometimes mild, but more frequently very painful, sciatica is often worsened by rapid movements such as sneezing or coughing, or by sitting for a long period of time.

Deep tissue massage therapy and chiropractic care are a proven antidote to the leg pain, numbness and tingling caused by sciatica.

Back Pain

If you are experiencing the misery of back pain, you are not alone. Affecting around 80% of people at some stage during their lifetime, this equates to around 52 million people in the UK alone and has been increasing over the past five years*.

Pain may begin abruptly as a result of an accident or by lifting something heavy, or it can develop over time due to age-related changes of the spine or lifestyle factors.  Men and women are equally affected, it can range widely from a mild constant ache to severe incapacitating pain but in all cases, it has a profound and debilitating impact on daily life.

Chiropractic care is very effective at treating the root cause of Back Pain.

Headaches & Migraines

Headaches and migraines can affect all people at some time in their life.

The cause of headaches can be attributed to a wide range of common lifestyle factors, including feeling tense and stressed, being dehydrated, not getting enough sleep and spending too much time in front of computer, television, tablet and phone screens. However, headaches can also be brought on by bad posture putting excessive stress on your neck, back and shoulders.

Firstly, you need to know that experiencing headaches and pain is not normal!

I can work with you to rectify any existing spinal misalignment that could be causing unknown tension in your shoulders, neck, back or jaw, consequently triggering your head pain.

Hip Pain

Our hips are invaluable to our body and the many functions it performs; they keep us upright, allow us to bear weight, walk smoothly, run, jump, kick and play. Since our hips are engaged in nearly every way we move, pain located in this area can have very debilitating consequences for people suffering with hip related pain.

Often what patients describe as “hip pain” may actually derive from a different part of the body. Some patients that experience pain in the lower back and hips may actually be suffering from dysfunction of the sacroiliac joints, or the joints that connect the sacrum to the iliac bones. Pain in the groin and hip can also be a result of a hernia, when the abdominal wall is torn or weakened.

One of the more common types of referred pain is sciatica, or inflammation or irritation of the sciatic nerve. This can result from conditions like disc herniation, spinal degeneration, narrowing of the spine due to osteoarthritis, or Piriformis syndrome. Irritation of the nerve root can cause pain the in low-back, buttocks, hips, as well as radiating leg pain.

Neck Pain

If you suffer from neck pain it’s important that you know that are not alone, with two-thirds of the population having neck pain at some point in their lives it’s one of the most common symptoms that we treat people for.

Your neck is a pretty amazing part of your body, but it has a tough job. It holds up the weight of your head all day long. The bones at the top of your spine, along with your muscles and ligaments, work very hard to support your head, which weighs around 11lbs.

The main causes of neck pain are;

  • Poor and repetitive posture such as “text neck

  • Bad sleeping habits,  too many or too little pillows

  • Injury such as whiplash,

  • Degenerative changes in your spine

  • Plus many others.
